2009 kicked off with 12,160 more jobs than in December 2008 after a fall of almost 18 thousand jobs in the last quarter of 2008. The increase is baased on the figures of the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS) of the insured workers. The number of insured workers in January 2009 were 1.385.350 compared to 1.373.190 in December 2008. However, construction jobs continues to spiral downwards, as well as those in the hotel and service industry.


Teatro Nacional Claims Misprint And Media Error In Pricing
Although starting some 20 minutes late, the first of the "Teatro al Medio dia"  was a success with some 600 people in attendance, for a performance of pianist Ramiro Ramírez and mezzosoprano Raquel Ramírez.
