A Great Day!
Today is a great day; it's a nice bright sunny few
hours that I as a free person
in the world may enjoy the life and liberties
afforded to me as a citizen of
the United States, yes, but also as a citizen of the
world as we know it.
Yesterday afternoon while visiting and old haunt my
attention was drawn to a
couple of bantering oldsters bickering about each
others beliefs in which country
to live in comfortably. The conversation, getting
louder and louder seemed to be
at a standstill when, I was asked to enter in with
my "gringo" comments if I so pleased.
One thing I hate to do is talk about politics in a
situation like that because no
matter what, "to be 'proven wrong' by some
bullheaded drunk that has command of the floor" just
is not what I want to be bothered with -------------
I wish I could say that the combatants were local to
another country, but,
they were from different areas of the same country.
The United States of America
should be very proud of these two jerks!
They weren't in disagreement over whether or not the
president had/has the right
to declare a state of emergency in the case of the
Twin Towers terrorists episode.
The argument was not about the Iraqi confrontation,
nor was it about sending troops
to Afghanistan looking for 'That Rat' leader of
Islamic culture who is still evading capture. No,
they were in this heated conversation because of the
new order
'proposed' by the president concerning the borders
and letting foreigners' have rights.
The United States is made up of 'foreigners" to it's
rich land and culture.
The US is made up of people of all faiths and
beliefs working to help themselves
be happy. The US does not try to persuade anyone to
go there, everyone wants to
join forces with the common population just to be
totally free of the oppression
seen elsewhere. America is what it is because of the
people,
not because of laws ------ The People Are America!
Sure there are laws governing the way things are
done, without some of them
there would not be freedom to live a lifestyle as we
know it! Americans are the
only population in the world not regulated or
required to have a identification
card on them at all times. We don't even have one to
carry, or at least not a
mandatory one. There are no passports issued to more
than 90% of the population
at last count. Try that anywhere else. Our borders
have always been open to the
oppressed and needy, the world is constantly at the
doorstep of this country
being bad-mouthed by a couple of good-for-nothing,
no-account jerks, posing as
'normal' Americans!
GO AWAY, LEAVE US ALONE, AND LEAVE THE RESIDENTS OF
THIS FINE COUNTRY IN PEACE!
About the argument; when I got done jumping on the
tails of each as they
cowardly ran away from the truths and quietly back
to their bottles of hooch,
the local establishment clapped in agreement.
Isn't it a shame that we sometimes run into people
that somehow cannot fathom
the whole idea of freedom in the real sense of the
word.
The following article was written the day after the
Twin Towers incident
and printed by the networks thereafter. I am proud
of it because of it's
newsworthy content most assuredly, but most of all
for it's description of America.

We will never forget!
"An Open Letter To A Terrorist"
Well, you hit the World Trade Center,
But you missed America. You hit the Pentagon,
But you missed America. You used helpless American
bodies, to take out other American bodies,
but like a poor marksman, you Still missed America.
Why? Because of something you guys will never
understand. America isn't about a building or two,
not about financial centers,
not about military centers.America isn't about a
place,
America isn't even about a bunch of bodies,
America is about an "Idea".
An idea, that you can go someplace where you can
earn as much as you can
figure out how to, live for the most part, like you
envisioned living,
and pursue Happiness. (No guarantees that you'll
reach it, but you can sure try!)
Go ahead and whine your terrorist whine, and chant
your terrorist litany:
"If you cannot see my point, then feel my pain."
This concept is alien to Americans. We live in a
country where we don't
have to see your point. But you're free to have one.
We don't have to listen to your speech. But you're
free to say one.
I Don't know where you got the strange idea that
everyone has to agree with you.
We don't agree with each other in this country,
almost as a matter of pride.
We're a collection of guys that don't agree, called
"States".
We united our individual states to protect ourselves
from tyranny in this world.
Another idea, we made up on the spot.
You "Can" make it up as you go, when it's your
country.
If you're free enough.
Yeah, we're fat, sloppy, easy going goofs most of
the time. That's an unfortunate image to project to
the world, but it comes of
feeling free and easy about the world you live in.
It's unfortunate too,
because people start to forget that when you attack
Americans,
they tend to fight like a cornered Badger.
The first we knew of the War of 1812, was when
England burned Washington D.C.
to the ground. It didn't turn out like England
thought it was going to,
and it's not going to turn out like you think
either. Sorry,
your not the first bully on our shores,
just the most recent.
You guys seem to be incapable of understanding that
we don't live in America, America lives in US!
American Spirit is what it's called.
And killing a few thousand of us, or a few million
of us,
won't change it. Most of the time, it's a pretty
happy-go-lucky kind of Spirit,
until we're crossed in a cowardly manner,
then it becomes an entirely different kind of
Spirit.
Wait until you see what we do with that Spirit, this
time!
