"You Can Trust Me; I’m From New York"

he said as he made an appointment last night with me to show
off the Tracker he is advertising for sale.

The advertisement reads;
"Owner leaving town, selling great car for practically nothing
in order to help another gringo entering San Jose area.
The ‘90s Rage, A Red Geo Tracker - With License Plate and taxes are paid.
$3800.00 firm".

When this Slime-Ball rang my doorbell I should have looked first and not answered.
His whole appearance wreaked of 'don’t trust me, I’m a car salesman'
 The vehicle was misrepresented and to say the least was a great disappointment;
It did match the general opinion I had made upon viewing its owner.
* First of all it was not a ‘90s car, it was built in ’87.
* The odometer reads, Two Hundred Seventy Two Thousand and 104 miles!
* The ragtop was just that, torn and abused.
* The paint was a reddish mud color (it was extremely dirty),
which was hiding even more damage than was plainly visible.
* Every body panel was either scraped or dented in multiple locations.
* The spare tire was on the right rear and the rest of the rubber was bald.
* The interior was tattered and springs were visible on the drivers seat.
* The drive shaft for the front half of the four-wheel drive was missing
indicating a bad gear somewhere in there.
* The rear fold-up seat was missing and a poorly upholstered board was
sitting on a couple of building blocks tied down with electrical zip-cord.
* He started the engine and I thought it might be one of those rare
diesel Trackers, but no, it just knocked like one!

He, this Poor Excuse for his Race and America, commented that
“sure it needs a little work to pass inspection, but at this price you
can spend a few bucks on her”. I took it for a ride around the block to
satisfy my curiosity and then when I could not negotiate around a pothole
because the steering was so bad I left it in the middle of the road
and walked back to my home.
I guess he got the hint because when I returned
without it he left kind of muttering something like screw you in not quite those words.
He would not have a chance in hell of selling this pile of junk to a Tico,
they would not pay that price. The incoming, would be resident,
looking for immediate transportation would be a likely prospect because
a nice ’88 car can bring upwards of $8000 with plates.
I see $11,000 prices as an average 93/95 Tracker with plates.

Jake Goldcars from Screw You Motors on the Post Road in the Bronx,
(I would love to publish his real identity)
you should go back home real soon and forever.
Leave the honest and upright residency and citizens of Costa Rica alone.
You give the rest of us a bad name here, and anywhere you go will be the same story!
