Sex or Freedom?
This was to be the topic for a new columnist, who I am
still waiting on her submitting her first column.
We had some great fun this past week in the downtown
coffee house debating this subject. She, is a mature
woman, who decided to say goodbye to the north and make
her life now in Costa Rica. Usually, it is men that do
this, so I was quite interested to hear a woman's
perspective.
Well, as it turned out, I was the one being quizzed and
decided to let the people speak out. My new friend took
upon herself to ask every man in sight what they thought:
what is more important, sex or freedom?
She had my answer, but was not convinced. So the
inquisitions began.
I was surprised at
first, as most men answered Freedom. This of course, I
added, had to be a gentlemanly response. After all it was
a woman asking the question and as all men from the north
have been conditioned, they made the 'smart' response.
I countered, that if it had been I, a man, asking the
question and she, my friend, a woman, were not around, the
answer would definitely be different. The truth, of
course.
And the questioning continued over several days and with a
variety of different men from different backgrounds and
locations.
