Costa Rica Faces Crucial
Decision
Costa Rica has until the end of
this year to endorse the Central
America-U.S. Free Trade
Agreement (CAFTA) - known
locally as the Tratado Libre de
Comercio (TLC); otherwise, it
would sacrifice exports,
investment, and jobs that would
be taken by its regional
competitors, which will execute
the Agreement on January 1,
2006.

with dolphins or whales,

criticized, an environmental

Researchers Tag Six Hammerhead
Sharks at Cocos Island
During the last week,
researchers from the Shark
Research Institute (USA) and
PRETOMA (Costa Rica) tagged six
hammerhead sharks with acoustic
transmitters at Cocos Island.
Two receivers were also set up
at the island to receive the
signals from the tagged sharks.
Still No Trace of Missing Boat
Six days after an Kentucky
couple went on a half-day
fishing trip, there is still no
trace of them or the 31-foot
boat they were on off the
Flamingo beach coast.
