us$1.5 Billion From Tourism
The tourist sector has represented income for us$1.589 billion dollars this year.

This figure is a 17% (or us$300 million)  increase over last year's figures, according to Minister of Tourism Rodrigo Castro.

The number of tourists has also increased, and it is expected to reach 1.671.000 by the end of the year, which means a 15% increase in the number of  visitors than in 2004.

However, Minister Castro pointed out that it is a must to improve the existing facilities - without going into details, the Minister was referring to roads and infrastructure - in order to properly take care of the increasing number of visitors.
