Large Abstention Forecast
If the national elections were held now, 32 of each 100 registered voters would abstain, a Unimer survey for the Spanish language daily La Nación found.

Another 12 percent say that they are still in doubt about whether to cast their ballots or not on the coming presidential election, which is to be held the first Sunday in February 2006.

On the other hand, 54 percent say that they will vote, but only 11 percent are absolutely sure they will do so and have already chosen a candidate.

Abstention is blamed on a weakening of democracy, particularly because of misuse of powers and the inefficiency of politicians.
