ROC Foreign Minister in Costa Rica to Preside Over Regional Meeting
Taiwan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tan Sun Chen, arrived in Costa Rica Wednesday to preside over a working meeting of ROC diplomatic mission chiefs in the region.

Michel Lu, of the  Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), said that the ministry had not mentioned Chen's visit to Costa Rica in an earlier press release for fear of possible obstruction from China.

Lu said Costa Rican President Abel Pacheco and Minister of Foreign Relations Roberto Tovar will host a dinner in Chen's honor during his stay. Chen's activities in Costa Rica were arranged through official consultations, Lu said, pointing out that wire reports that Chen's visit is "accidental" are not true.

Chen and his entourage are scheduled to return to Taiwan Friday, Lu added.
