Nicaraguans Will Need to Present Passport to Enter Costa Rica Come June 1
There is no reason, come June 1, why Nicaraguans enter Costa Rica without a passport.

An agreement between the governments of Costa Rica and Nicaragua, which is set to expire on May 31, allowed Nicaraguans to enter Costa Rican territory with only a "salvo conducto" - a temporary travel document.

The agreement to allow Nicaraguans to enter Costa Rica without a passport was at the request of the Nicaraguan government when it ran short of passport documents to issue.

Marco Badilla, director of Migración, says that the passport supply situation in Nicaragua is now normal and that on June 1, Nicaraguans will need to present passports to enter.
