Desamparados Now 143
Desamparados, is the third district of the province of San José and the most populated, with 200.000 residents, and celebrating it's 143rd anniversary.

Located on the south side of San José city, Desamparados is house to the affluent as well as the extreme poor and everyone else in between. The celebrations began yesterday at 11am, with student bandts and hundreds of residents to who came out for the festivities that were held around the Palacio Municipal.

Known as Valle de Aserrí when it was founded in 1561, today Desamparados celebrates the Día de la Máscara with parades and music in the San Antonio neighbourhood. Next Sunday (Nov. 6) there will be another celebrations, this time with cowboys.
