At least 50 injured in traffic accident in Brazil
At least 50 people were injured in southeastern Brazil on Wednesday, when a coach was in collision with two other vehicles.

The coach was travelling along a main access road when it was in collision with a car and a bus. The three vehicles were all traveling in the same direction.

The accident on Brasil Avenue, which leads to the center of the port city of Rio de Janeiro, also caused serious traffic jams in the Iraja neighborhood and 15 ambulances attended the incident.

Colonel Hugo Figueiredo, the head of the Fire Brigade's operations center, was unable to give the media the exact number of injured as some of them had left the scene in private cars.

One of the most seriously wounded people, who suffered serious leg injuries, was sent to hospital by a helicopter after rescuers pulled him out of the wreckage.
