Chilean
president, officials submit
property report
Chilean President Michelle
Bachelet and several ministers
presented their property and
earnings report to the
Comptroller Office on Thursday
according to the Integrity Law.
Paulina Veloso, secretary
general of th e presidency,
confirmed that Bachelet had
declared a salary of 5,762,690
Chilean pesos (10,500 U.S.
dollars) in her report.
Six ministers and six vice
ministers had also made property
statements by Wednesday, the
Comptroller Office said.
Among them, Economy Minister
Ingrid Antonijevic Hahn is the
richest official with shares in
the Adin S. A. Inversiones
Riesgo C.P.A company and assets
worth 606,336,384 Chilean pesos
(1.2 million dollars).
Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle and
Ricardo Lagos Escobar, the two
former presidents, have also
submitted property statements to
the Comptroller Office for time
during which they were in
office.
The Integrity Law requires
Chilean officials to submit
property reports within 40 days
of taking office. The statements
will be valid for four years,
and aim to guarantee that the
officials carry out their duties
with integrity and transparency.
The law was approved on March
22.
