Cuba
asks Czech diplomat to leave
A diplomat with the Czech
Republic's embassy in Cuba said
on Thursday that the Cuban
government had asked him to
leave by Saturday without giving
an explanation.
Stanislav Kazecky, a political
affairs counselor in the Czech
embassy, said Cuba did not renew
his visa and gave him 72 hours
to leave.
The 34-year-old diplomat, who
has been serving in Havana since
2004 and has close contacts with
dissidents, said the order for
him to leave the island amounted
to an expulsion. The Czech
Republic Foreign Ministry has
lodged a protest.
Kazecky has booked a Saturday
flight for Paris.
