Nicaraguans Protest Water Shortage
Nicaragua's capital residents began street protests on Tuesday due to the repeated cuts of water supply which is affecting great part of this Central American country.

Tens of people from Managua's Tenderí, Santa Rosa, and Bello Horizonte neighbourhoods, among others, went to the streets with vats and hoses on Tuesday to demonstrate against the water supply cuts.

A big group of demonstrators gathered to protest in front of Nicaragua's Aqueduct and Sewer System Company, which admitted this week that the water supply had been reduced to 20 million gallons

According to a local television channel, additional police forces were mobilized to calm the population and prevent bigger protests in localities in the east of Managua capital.

The water supply cuts are caused by the serious energy crisis that has been hitting the Central American country.
