Celebrity Poker Showdown in
Costa Rica Ends
BetCRIS.com – the recognized

America’s Card Room sponsored
the WPS Summer Poker Showdown in
Costa Rica, August 18th to
August 27th.
The event was attended by famed
comedy actress Nicole Sullivan,
who is most recognized for her
roles on Mad TV, The King of
Queens and most recently Hot
Properties. In addition, she has
lent her voice to such hit
programs as Family Guy and Kim
Possible.
With over 140 players in a
single day, the poker room was
filled with a highly diverse
group of players. Individuals
came from Central and South
America as well as the USA.
Humberto Brenes, Arturo Morales
and Karlo “The Magician” Lopez
were just three of the big names
in attendance who have excelled
in the poker circuit worldwide
earning top places in the best
tournaments.
The WPS Spring Poker Showdown
came about when founder Herb Van
Dyke saw the need for a more
affordable and fun poker
tournament. Van Dyke wanted to
do something different than the
mega poker tournaments that were
sprouting around the world; in
turn, he created the WPS to be
the leading tournament in
professionalism and fun.
“We promised the WPS Summer
Poker Showdown was going to have
the talent of big poker names
and the excitement involved,”
said Phil Nagy, Manager of
America’s Card Room. “The WPS
philosophy is all about fun:
it’s about giving the player a
festive party atmosphere and
Costa Rica provided the perfect
scenario to accomplish that”.
America’s Card Room is currently
preparing to travel to the
Caribbean for the WPS St.
Maarten Fall Poker Showdown;
November 4 - 18, 2006, and plans
to be involved in many future
land based poker events.
