Latin America, Europe to
Strengthen Ties
Latin American Parliament
General Secretary Rafael Correa
highlighted the importance of a
projected meeting among South
American and European
parliamentarians intended to
analyze issues of common
interest.
The Euro-Latin American session
will take place November 8-9 in
Brussels, and was convoked by
the Working Group of the
Euro-Latin American
Parliamentary Assembly held on
August 4 in Cartagena, Colombia.
Members of the European
Parliament and deputies of the
Latin American, Central American
and the Mexico-Chile Joint
Commission are expected to
attend the important meeting,
which will surely contribute to
a more solid democratic
governing power, said Correa.
The definition of common
positions and actions among the
different regions to fight
poverty, social exclusion and
boost the integral and
sustainable development of
nations will be some of the main
purposes.
Similarly, participants will set
ground rules for a strategic
association as well as for
consolidation and development of
European Union-Latin America
relations.
