Venezuela Heads for Single Revolutionary Party
The proposal of a single revolutionary party in Venezuela, launched by the Republic’s President Hugo Chavez, is gaining ground on Friday in the national political situation after the December 3 elections.

There are new offices dedicated to that new purpose in the state of Anzoategui, responding to Chavez’ statements on the importance of this kind of action to build socialism in the country.

The Bloc for Change, headed by Chavez is led by his “Movimiento V Republica” (MVR), the number one national political force with 4,747,773 out of 11,836,000 votes.

Along with the MVR, there are another 20 parties, among them “Por la Democracia Social (Podemos)”, “Patria para Todos” and “Comunista,” which got 745,546,310 votes and 335,177 votes, among those of larger results.

Meanwhile, the opposition “Un Nuevo Tiempo” party, by Manuel Rosales, won 1,467,249 votes and “Primero Justicica,” who also supported that candidate, 1,249,249 votes.

Chavez states that the aim of the single revolutionary party is to guarantee irreversibility of the process of change he has led since 1998 and deepen his socialist approach for his 2007-2013 mandate.

In the Sunday presidential polls, Chavez received over seven million votes, 62 percent, a clear expression of support for his socialist proposal.

The idea was welcomed by the Bloc for Change’s member organizations, although some of them indicated that the new party must not be the simple sum of members of that alliance.
