South American Summit Joins Nations, Markets
Colombia will propose a gradual convergence between CAN and MERCOSUR at the second South American Community of Nations Summit (CSN), local Foreign Minister Maria Consuelo Araujo has said.

Before departing for Cochabamba, Bolivia, where the event will be session today and tomorrow, the Colombian official assured that her nation will advocate for integration.

She stated they will initially work on projects that can be forwarded from the Andean Community of Nations (CAN) and the Common Market of the South (MERCOSUR).

The minister stressed that heads of state and government will be united by the challenge and opportunity to strengthen their commitment with a common process based on the political dialogue, convergence of trade mechanisms as well as physical and energy integration.

In addition, Araujo noted she will strive for unity between CAN and MERCOSUR to invigorate the CSN.
