Fidel Castro Rebukes US
Provocation
President Fidel Castro denounced
recent US government
provocations through its
Interest Office (USINT) at an
improvised, informal talk with
foreign and Cuban reporters at
the city´s seadrive close to the
diplomatic facility.
He had come to the
Anti-Imperialist Tribune where
construction work has speedily
begun of what will shortly be
Cuba´s response to the latest
provocations. The current US
diplomatic mission put up a
large electrical ticker on the
east side of its building facing
downtown, from which subversive
messages are beamed.
Opened to answer questions,
Fidel Castro however gently
refused to advance what was
being built "because a surprise
is always better". He strongly
condemned that the USINT has
become the center for
counter-revolutionary
operations, thus violating the
most elemental rules of
international law.
The Cuban president also offered
to provide medical care to
underprivileged US citizens and
of those plans implemented in
several developing nations of
the world.
He highlighted that the world is
in danger faced with the current
US government’s arrogant
attitude of fighting terrorism,
but ironically gives shelter to
confessed Cuban-born terrorist
Luis Posada Carriles.
The statesman also denounced
that the US administration is
weighing the possibility of
breaking migratory agreements
signed with Cuba and is
launching a group of measures to
stimulate illegal exits on the
basis of a so-called Cuban
Adjustment Act, which he said
should be suspended.
Questioned on the World Baseball
Classic, he stated that Cuba
would be there because when they
arbitrarily barred the team from
the tournament, everyone opposed
it and finally they were forced
to give the ok. “We will be
there to compete and show our
values,” noted the island’s
leader.
Talking on international
political issues, the Cuban
president praised New Bolivian
President Evo Morales for his
serenity and equanimity, and his
Venezuela counterpart Hugo
Chavez for his struggle in favor
of the poor and his
anti-imperialist fervor.
Finally, Fidel Castro recalled
the recently deceased leader of
the Farabundo Marti Front for
National Liberation in El
Salvador, Shafick Handal, who he
termed an impeccable and firm
revolutionary.
