Nicaragua Favors Ortega
Nicaraguan Sandinista National
Liberation Front (FSLN)
presidential candidate Daniel
Ortega is still ahead in polls
on Saturday, although he has not
reached the necessary votes to
win in the first round on
November 5.
According to results published
on Saturday, on El Nuevo Diario,
the Sandinista leader obtained
support of 27.3 percent of the
electorate of Managua, a city
where the survey was carried out
from July 21-23.
Presidential candidate of
dissident Nicaraguan Liberal
Alliance (ALN) Eduardo
Montealegre, ex member of the
Constitutional Liberal Party
(PLC), is in the second
position, with 25.4 percent.
Edmundo Jarquin, who replaced
late Herty Lewites as
presidential candidate for
Sandinista Reviving Movement (MRS),
was favored by 24.8 percent of
the vote intention among the
citizens of the capital.
PLC representative Jose Rizo
appears a little out of the way
in the contest. He would be
voted for by only 12.9 percent
of those polled.
Eden Pastora, who represents the
fifth electoral option for the
Nicaraguans at the polls on
November 5, was favored by 1.7
percent.
There was eight percent of
hidden or indecisive vote, as
shown by the survey. According
to the daily, the MRS polled
528 people over 16 and has an error margin of around 4.3 percent.
