A Real Fiasco As Ticos Lose 2-1
to Poland
There was a soccer game
yesterday? Unlike the frenzy of
game 1 and the possibility of
maybe winning game 2,
yesterday's game 3 was just
another day on the calendar.
The bars that were filled on
games 1 and 2, the red shirts
and the excitement just was not
there. Most Costa Ricans went on
with their daily life almost as
if there was no World Cup game.
Costa Rica's coach Alexandre
Guimaraes was probably right whe
he said he expected a frosty
welcome at home after his team
lost all three World Cup games
but added he would not make any
hasty decisions about his
future.
"We're going to take a couple of
days to analyze things,"
Guimaraes said. "I'll discuss it
with my (soccer federation)
president too. At the end of
this month, at the latest, we'll
be defining the possibilities to
continue this project with Costa
Rica or not."
The coach said he knew Costa
Ricans were disappointed. "I
don't think it will be a good
welcome, obviously not,"
Guimaraes said.
"These three losses were totally
unexpected. In the first two
games and this match too we
deserved a better result.
