PETROCARIBE Remains Loyal to its Principles
A year after its inception, Petrocaribe has remained faithful to its principles of solidarity, access to fairly-priced energy Resources, as well as social and technological projects.

Petrocaribe, a Venezuelan initiative, is a regional endeavor launched on Jun 29, 2005 with the support of 14 countries, as an alternative trade policy for the conservation of non-renewable resources.

Haiti, which joined the project recently, has already received 40,000 barrels of gas and 60,000 barrels of diesel, a part of which will be donated, so that boilers in local hospitals can be operational.

Launched by President Hugo Chavez as part of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA), Petrocaribe aims to contribute to energy security, socioeconomic development and integration in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Members of the project are Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, the Dominican Republic Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Suriname and Venezuela.
