Salvador, Immigration Encouraged by FTA
Immigration and the FTA constitute nowadays a big deal for businesspeople and the Salvadorian government, economist Cesar Villalona stated Friday.

That commercial agreement is a mechanism to beat the agricultural sector and encourage immigration, said Villalona in his intervention at the forum "Impact of the FTA between El Salvador and the US and the Mexican Experience" organized by El Salvador University.

According to the experts' views, millionaires will be the only survivors. Salvadorian farmers will be forced to leave their lands because of the competitive inequality and so they will be rented by the magnates.

Villalona confirmed the existence of a legislation that although does not allow the purchase of lands it does favor their acquisition by means of leasing.

In addition, Salvadorians will not be allowed to export pork meat, iguana soup or fresh fruits among other products.
