Honduras Removes Nearly 400
Policemen
Some 400 Honduran police agents
have been removed for corruption
and other irregularities in
their functions, police
authorities reported Saturday.
Police Office general
commissioner Roberto Romero
stated that the country made a
meticulous investigation to
prove the officials' implication
in crimes like armed robberies
or protecting renowned
criminals.
In October, Security Minister
Alvaro Romero infiltrated agents
as observers, to check the work
of those policemen.
According to authorities, some
of those separated policemen had
received expensive courses of
ethics and good citizen's
behavior.
Honduras, with seven million
inhabitants and one of the most
violent countries in Central
America, has only about 9,000
policemen.
