Panama Appreciates Security Council Seat Backing
Panama Vice president Ruben Arosemena highly appreciate the Latin American community eventual support to the seat at UN Security Council by that nation.

"Panama recognized Guatemala-Venezuela bravery and generosity turning down their lawful right to propose my country as to assume such responsibility", said the State Vice chief during a press conference.

Arosemena heads the Panamanian delegation to the 16 Summit of States and Government chief in session in this capital since Friday.

President Martin Torrijos was one of the leaders absent to Montevideo´s event.

Panama also recognized the Latin American and Caribbean group praiseworthy procedure at UN during the development of the whole process.

By virtue of the initiative proposed by Guatemala and Venezuela supported by the Latin American and Caribbean group benefit force coordination and regional unity Panama Government finally decided to accept that responsibility.

Arosemena is the second vice president and administrator of Panama Maritime Authority (AMP).

He will travel Sunday from Montevideo to Sao Paulo, Brazil, to present the mega-project for the extension of Panama Canal and the Panamanian maritime sector.
