Guatemala Slams Telesur Arrest
The observatory of Guatemalan
journalists rejected Telesur
correspondent Freddy Muñoz
arrest in Colombia and
considered it an attack on free
professional exercise.
In declarations to Prensa Latina
the observatory coordinator
Ileana Alamilla condemned the
stigma and blockade of Telesur
as an alternative project that
offers a different Latin
American vision from that of the
mainstream press.
Muñoz was arrested by police
agents last Sunday on his return
to Colombia after attending an
audiovisual workshop in Caracas,
Telesur central headquarters.
The famous journalist who is
also audiovisual producer and
writer was accused of terrorism
and rebellion.
