Hondurans Demand Fight against Impunity
The struggle against impunity and violence are among the demands organizations from Honduran civilian societies presented to President of the Republic Manuel Zelaya in their dialogues with him.

Meetings with about 80 organizations have been carried out in the nation for the forthcoming national event to be celebrated in the next 45 days.

The organizations also demanded that government support the Transparency Act to confront corruption, investigate human rights violations and give priority investment in childhood as well as solving murders of children and young people.

"The initiative involves the willingness to struggle against crime, but satisfaction will be greater once criminals are imprisoned," assured Committee for the Defense of Human Rights in Honduras president Andres Pavon.

In the meeting, we noted the lack of public policies and the need to be clear about the development of this country, considered National Commissioner of Human Rights Ramon Custodio.

Casa Alianza director Jose Capellin requested government to continue with the programs to protect childhood by preventing child labor and sexual exploitation.

Committee of Relatives Detained and Disappeared in Honduras (COFADEH) president Bertha Oliva urged the president to order an inspection of these cases of the 80s to struggle against impunity.
