Dominicans Pay the Most Expensive Airline Tickets
Restrictive offer and taxes in Dominican Republic have made airline tickets became the most expensive in the region , affirmed a research of Listin Diario published here Monday.

The 45.5 percent of air charges belong to every ticket's taxes payment emphasized the press investigation.

Price difference is more reflected in airline's ticket to US and Puerto Rico due to charges rivalry.

In other non-traditional destinies, price difference reaches one hundred percent if compared with others located at a similar distance, because of shortage of airline competition.

That is, a ticket to Puerto Rico bought in this capital costs 16.253 pesos (508 dollars) but the same ticket bought in Puerto Rico to DR costs 14.452 pesos (451 dollars).

The American Airline explanation for this situation is that the neighbour island does not pay the 16 percent of taxes so the passenger saves about 57 dollars for a flight which average duration is of 35 minutes, noted the press .
