BCR To Start Issuing Drivers Licenses This Week
Beginning on Thursday, the Banco de Costa Rica (BCR) will be issuing driver licensing at ten of its branches.

The deal between the BCR and the Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Transportes (MOPT) is to facilitate the issuing of new licenses and renewals and to eliminate the long lines at the MOPT licensing offices.

The MOPT said it will announce the number to call for an appointment, where the bank assures that the wait time to issue a new or renewal license will not be longer than 15 minutes from the appointment time.

The bank proposes to issue licenses at 30 branches by the end of the year.

The deal is part of the "gobierno digital" (digital government) program to connect government agencies and services together and be accessed over the internet.
