International Experts Studying Nicoya Fault
More than 100 international experts in geology and seismology have joined Costa Rican experts to study the faul that could provoke a major earthquake in Nicoya.

Since the 1980's, local experts detected a major fault in the Península de Nicoya that has the potential of an earthquake of great magnitude for the area.

Experts from Germany, Japan, United States and other countries arrived here over the last couple of days and will be meeting all week.

The experts are clear that their study will not result in predicting an earthquake, but rather, will give them a better understanding of the phenomenon.

One of the activities will take the experts on a walk of the main active volcanoes in the country, beginning with the Arenal.
