Coup Plotters Seek Refuge in Costa Rica
Two Venezuelan men accused of attempting to overthrow Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez in April 2002 have applied for refugee status in Costa Rica.

The application by Néstor González and Henry López was made public by the ministro de Seguridad Pública, Fernando Berrocal, yesterday.

These men, who are former Venezuelan military agents, have already presented their requests to the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) a necessary step in the process of gaining refugee status.

Berrocal did not give many details on the application, only to say that when a decision is made it will be made public by the ministro de la Presidencia, Rodrígo Arias.
