Sandinista Foes for Oil Funds Bill
Sandinista parliamentary group coordinator Edwin
Castro accused Wednesday parties opposed to the
Ortega government of manipulating oil accords
inked between Nicaragua and Venezuela.
Castro was specifically critical with the
Sandinista Renovation Movement (MRS), a splinter
group from the current governing Sandinista
National Liberation Front (FSLN), which has
three deputies in the parliament.
"I wish success to the MRS colleagues in this
misinformed and totally manipulated legislative
battle," the legislator told local television
channel 4.
Sandinista dissidents presented a bill for the
National Assembly to regulate funds of the
profitable agreement signed between Caracas and
Managua.
According to the accord, the Venezuelan
state-run oil company PDVSA will deliver
Nicaraguan PETRONIC the equivalent to the annual
oil demand of the Central American country,
estimated at 10 million barrels.
