Honduras Thwarts Massive Jail Break
The Honduran police said Friday that after several months of investigation, they frustrated a planned mass escape through a 262 foot tunnel out of Marco Aurelio Soto National Penitentiary.

The tunnel ran SE under Section 2 that houses 460 inmates and was just 8.2 feet short of coming out on the other side of the wall, through which hundreds of dangerous criminals planned to escape after paying $940 each.

Eight alleged leaders have been transferred to punishment cells while the guards confiscated sharp weapons and other prohibited objects.

Warden Aldo Oliva said the escape was planned for November.
