Brandy Marine To Manage Costa Rica's Marina Papagayo
Brandy Marine International, of Sarasota, FL, USA, has been selected to manage the new, state-of-the-art, full-service Marina Papagayo located at the exclusive resort development at Peninsula Papagayo on the northwestern Pacific coast of Costa Rica, one of the hottest new travel destinations in the world.

Marina Papagayo promises to be “the finest marina on the Pacific coast of Central America,” according to Capt. Bruce H. Blomgren, CEO and president of Brandy Marine International.

The 350-slip marina, located within the 2,300-acre Peninsula Papagayo resort development, will open Dec. 15, 2008 with 179 wet slips, ranging in size from 35’ to 120’ in length. The average size slip will be 60’ in length. Larger mega-yacht slips up to 240’ in length will open Dec. 20, 2008.

“Brandy Marine’s expertise in all aspects of the creation of Marina Papagayo and its management of the marina are key forces in creating one of the most dynamic amenities of the Peninsula Papagayo resort community,” said Alan Kelso, Chief Executive Officer for Peninsula Papagayo.

"When Marina Papagayo opens in December and becomes home to elegant, luxury mega-yachts and sport fishing yachts, the marina basin will be a visually stunning scene as well as an integral part of the resort," Kelso said.

Construction of Marina Papagayo began in the summer of 2008 and is continuing at a rapid pace to meet the Dec. 15 opening date. The marina is being built with a ShoreMaster floating dock system. ShoreMaster has created dock systems for marinas throughout the world. The dock system at Marina Papagayo is designed to give boaters ease of access to their vessels by providing a constant gunwale height at all times. An extensive floating breakwater will maintain a smooth and calm environment in the marina basin, keeping the basin and vessels free from wind and wave activity.

Yacht slips at Marina Papagayo will have generous dimensions to accommodate today’s newer, larger, longer and wider vessels. The docks themselves will be wide enough to allow for golf carts and pedestrians to pass each other safely. Slips will be available to transient boaters or in a non-equity club structure.

In-Slip Amenities Will Include:
- Metered 30/50 amp, 110/220 volt, 100/400 amp, single phase and three phase electrical power.
- Water (included in slip fee)
- Wi-Fi (included in slip fee)
- Cable TV (included in slip fee)
- Pump-out (included in slip fee)
- Concierge services
- Pier storage boxes
