Closing Weekend For The Puntarenas Carnival
This is the closing weekend for the Carnavales de Puntarenas where some 100.000 people are expected to visit the port town on the Pacific coast. Juan José Caruzo, president of the Comisión de los Carnavales said that they are ready to receive all those that come.

Ready for the visitors is also the Policía de Tránsito (traffic police) that will be on full alert and keeping an eye on traffic and drivers in all areas around Puntarenas.

Antonio Sevilla, regional chief of the Policía de Tránsito in Puntarenas, said that all his 57 officers will be on duty controlling traffic and checking speeding and drinking and driving. Sevilla added that five patrol vehicles, 10 motorcycles and three two truck patrols will be on hand in their effort.

Hotel and cabina (rooms) operators report being sold out entirely since Thursday.
