Two Million Expected For This Years "Romeria"
The annual "romeria" is less that a month away and this year a record 2 million are expected to descend on the Basílica de los Ángeles in Cartago for the August 2 tradition.

The 2 million is what the Catholic church and authorities estimate will take part in this years pilgramige that will begin on July 25th.

Each year, the faithful come from all around the country and many from other parts of the region and the world to pay homage to "La Negrita", the patron saint of Costa Rica>

The faithful come to either ask for the help of La Negrita or to offer their thanks.

The Catholic church has a complete program for the event that begins on July 23 and ends on August 3.
