Forum On Cross-Straits
Relations Held in Costa
Rica
A forum on the peaceful
development of relations
across the Taiwan
Straits was held in
Costa Rica on Wednesday.
The forum was
co-sponsored by a
delegation of the China
Council for the
Promotion of Peaceful
National Reunification (CCPPR)
and the Costa Rican
Council for the
Promotion of China's
Peaceful Reunification.
The forum would promote
exchanges on the Taiwan
issue, said Zhu
Jingguang, deputy
secretary-general of the
CCPPR.
It would also serve as
an opportunity to raise
the awareness of the
overseas Chinese in
Costa Rica about
opposing "Taiwan
independence" and
promoting peaceful
reunification of the
motherland, said Zhu,
who was also head of the
delegation.
Currently, the Chinese
mainland and Taiwan
enjoyed a relatively
relaxed relationship,
said Yu Bo, an official
with the Chinese Embassy
in Costa Rica.
It was of "special
significance" to hold
such discussions now on
the peaceful development
of cross-Straits
relations, he said.
