Nicaragua Building
Hospitals
The director of Planning
and development of the
Health Ministry,
Alejandro Solis,
informed that the
government of President
Daniel Ortega is
boosting the
construction of several
hospitals.
Solis also announced the
building of a general
hospital in the capital
at a cost of 36 million
dollars.
He added that the
hospital network in the
country was seriously
deteriorated.
The north of Nicaragua
needs building in all
the hospitals while the
Fernando Velez and
Roberto Calderon
hospitals in the capital
are in disastrous
conditions, he
indicated.
A hospital in the
department of Boaca will
soon be inaugurated
while installations in
the capital are being
repaired and new
polyclinics will be
built throughout the
country.
After becoming president
in 2007 Ortega
eliminated the
privatization of the
health system set up by
the liberal
administrations that had
governed the country for
16 years.
