Chancellery Full of Rats
The main offices of the
Ministerio de Relaciones
Exteriores (Foreign
Ministry) will soon rid
itself of rats, the four
legged kind that has
been bothering workers
for some time, as the
entire building and its
annex will be fumigated
against the rodents.
Some employees have
reported being bitten by
the rodents, suffering
allergic reactions and
have had to take time
off work.
Sonia Arguedas Montero,
administrator of the
Chancellery, sent a
letter to more than 50
officials explaining
that the only option
left is to fumigate the
entire building and the
delays have been due to
financial constraints,
as funds have had to be
diverted from other
areas to allow the
fumigation to proceed.
The administrator added
that the carpeting has
to also be replaced,
although financial
setbacks are delaying
the project to remodel
the flooding on all
floors of the building
to allow workers a
comfortable and secure
working environment.
In the meantime, Montero
is urging all employees
not to leave food
residues in the garbage
cans and on their desks,
nor leave open food
laying around, urging
employees to use sealed
containers to contribute
to the health of
everyone.
