Tamal Fair in Aserri This Weekend
Some of the country's best tamales can be savoured at the annual Feria del Tamal that begins today in Aserri, south of San José.

The Tamal is a Costa Rican traditional Christmas food, but it also available all year round and are made up from products that make the "canasta basica" (basic food basket).

Tamales can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch and just about anytime.

Different recipes are available on the internet.

Our favourite includes pork, rice and herbs, cooked in a corn Maza wrapped in a banana husk.

This weekend marks the fifth annual Tamal fair. The fair goes on all weekend and next with different activities that include music and traditioal dancers.

For more information on how to get to the fair and some of the history and fotos go to: http://feriadeltamal.com/aserri/
