Bogota Soaring with Slave Children
More than 17,000 children suffer labor exploitation in the Colombian capital, most of then without being paid and forced to do adult jobs, the Social Integration Secretary's Office reported.

El Espectador daily published on Sunday a report claiming that thousands of others run the risk of being related to some kind of work.

Generally, the parents of those children have suffered the same situation, thus they believe that putting their children through that obligation is part of their education, the study said.

The Social Integration Secretary's Office said many of those minors work in the textile industry, in street trade, household chores, and as bus collectors.

Bogota autohorities are developing a program to eradicate child labor exploitation, through a $70 monthly subsidy and educational advisory to their families.
