Women Recognize Their
Attackers In Line Up
The two survivors of the
attack on three casino
employees in Escazú last
week picked out the men
suspected of the crime
in a police line up,
confirming the detention
of Mena Jiménez and Mora
Cantillano who are
currently in lock up for
six months while the
prosecution builds its
case.
The two men, accused of
murder of Yerlyn Marín
Salazar and attempted
murder of Arelys Marín (Yerlyn's
sister) and co-worker
Angie Peraza, were
submitted to a line up
on Friday.
Both Mora and Mena are
being tied by police to
the brugtal murder of
Pamela Chávez and
Rolando Alpízar last
August in Pavas.
Authorities suspect that
the pair are also
responsible for the
murder of two others in
June.
A woman, the girlfriend
of one of the men, is
also being held in
preventive detention.
The three women were
attacked by the two men
when they left work at
the Jazz Casino located
in the White House hotel
in Escazú after 1am. The
women were left for dead
in separate locations,
Yerlyn found dead, while
the other two survived
the gun shots received.
This week authorities
also took a closer look
at the scene where the
three women were found,
searching for more
evidence tying the two
men to the crime, as
well as a detailed
inspection of the
vehicle used, that had
been hidden in
Puntarenas.
