Seizes 4 Tons of Cocaine
Quito - The Ecuadorian
navy found four tons of
cocaine Monday during a
patrol of San Lorenzo,
which shares a border
with Colombia.
The drugs were
discovered in a manor in
Palma Real parish, in
San Lorenzo. Two
Colombians and an
Ecuadorian were detained
during the operation,
said Fernando Zurita,
head of the Naval
Command of North
Operations.
Zurita said the drug
traffickers intended to
ship the drugs to the
United States or Europe.
The four tons were the
largest amount of
cocaine seized by the
Ecuadorian navy this
year in Esmeraldas
province.
The drugs were
transferred to police in
Esmeraldas province,
north of Ecuador.
