Summer Is Around The Corner
Summer or the "dry season" is around the corner, according to the weatherman, as the 2008 rainy season comes to a closed with a record torrential rain and landslides, affecting tens of thousands in all parts of the country.

According to the Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) - the national weather service - this week begins the transition period from the rainy to the dry season, which will be felt first in the North Pacific and the Central Valley.

In San José not one drop of rain fell on Sunday or Monday.

The IMN predicts dry season will be in full swing by mid November in Guanacaste and Puntarenas (between November 12 and 16), followed in the Central Valley (between November 27 and December 1), the Central Pacific (December 21 and 27) and the South Pacific by the end of December. The Caribbean and Northern Zone will be in full dry season by February.

During the transition period it is common for a couple of days of sunshine and no rain followed by days of rain.

So, although it feels like the rainy season is done with, don't put away the umbrella yet for at least a couple of weeks more.
