toxic, make of the lake
in the crater of active
Poas Volcano a unique
site in the Earth.
Over 225,000 tourists
visit the site every
year attest to the
scenic beauty of the
national park.
Also, tens of
researchers visit the
crater in an effort to
decode the secrets of
the hot and hyper-acid
lake.
The lake has a diameter
of 300 meters (328
yards), and 45 metres
(some 147 feet) deep.
Also, it is in one of
the world’s largest
craters, its diameter is
1,320 metres (1,440
