radical change of the
power structures of this
Andean nation back the
text of the new
constitution.
Recent polls showed
progress of the Yes
tendency, which could
grow in the next few
weeks before the Sunday
28 referendum.
Pollster companies
Perfiles de Opiniones
and Santiago Perez
agreed that those in
favor of the new
legislation are at 56
percent.
For Pervez the Yes
tendency upturn began
last July, as the
decline of No, that will
apparently continue.
Those defending No, like
the social Christian
Mayor Jaime Nebot and ex
President Lucio
Gutierrez do not have
enjoy much success among
the population,
emphasized the polls.

of Opinions Paulina
Recalde assured that the
increasing popularity of
President Rafael Correa
has made possible the
explosion of a tendency
in favor of the
Constitution text.
According to Recalde
poll 64 percent of the
people in Ecuador
capital favor the
constitutional proposal
while in Guayaquil 36
percent support it.
The government announced
that starting next week
the new Constitution
text will be broadcast
through TV programs
three times a day.
The bill will be
submitted to referendum
on Sunday 28 and if it
wins the government
expects to deepen the
process of
socio-economic reforms
that has began on
