RECOPE Asks For ˘2 Colon Drop In The Price of Gasoline
The last decrease of gasoline prices - ˘1 colon per litre - that in effect earlier this week was such a joke that it barely was noticed by anyone.

And adding insult to injury, yesterday RECOPE asked a drop of ˘3 colones on the price of a litre of super and ˘2 colones for regular. Although the price of a litre of diesel will drop ˘65 colones.

Earlier in the week RECOPE has hinted that it would be asking the regulatory body, ARESEP, approval for a decrease of ˘30 colones on the price of gasoline as the state institution keeps in policy of price adjustment requests made every second Friday of the month.

RECOPE blamed hurricane IKE in Texas for the low drop in prices.

Interesting to note is that RECOPE is now responding to an immediate change as the price of crude on international markets rose this week in the face of the hurricanes, while it has failed to adjust its prices according for the last two months as the price of crude as dropped more than us$40 barrel.

Costa Rica continues with the highest fuel prices in Central America.
