MERCOSUR to Run 29th Summit
MONTEVIDEO - Delegations of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay
and Venezuela are heading to the 29th MERCOSUR Summit that opens Monday in Uruguay
with the meeting of ministers for Foreign
Affairs and Economics.
President Jose Mujica will hand over the
leadership pro tempore to Argentina on
Tuesday, said cabinet sources, adding that a
press briefing is scheduled for noon.
MERCOSUR was set up in 1991 with the Treaty
of Asuncion. Bolivia, Chile, Colombia,
Ecuador and Peru remain as associates.
