Bull Riders To Challenges Ticos At Zapote
The "Toros a la Tica" is the staple of the
annual Zapote Fair that kicks off at noon
tomorrow, Christmas Day.
This year, the Ticos bull riders will have
some stiff competition, as they will lock
horns with Nicaraguan bull riders.
The local television channel 7, Teletica,
and promoter of the "Chinamo" the year end
party that forms part of the Zapote Fair,
was in Nicaragua in search of the best
talent to the north of Costa Rica.
The objective was to give this year's
running of the bulls - the Costa Rican
version is for people to stand in front of
the bulls and then run for their lives as
the bull charges - will have an interesting
twist to the riding championship, pitting
the best of Costa Rica and the best of
Nicaragua.
The Nicas issued the first assault, calling
the Ticos "pendejos", saying the Ticos lack
"cojones".
The Nicas assure that the Ticos just don't
have the stuff it takes to be a real bull
rider.
The truth will be told when they enter the "redondel"
(bull ring). |
