Opposition Against Taitelbaum Goes Online
Opposition to the naming of Ofelia
Taitelbaum as Defensoría de los Habitantes
(Ombudswoman) has gone on line, as hundreds
have been using Facebook to post their
malcontent.
Taitelbaum, a legislator for the Partido
Liberación Nacional (PLN) before being named
Ombudswoman, is not a person like by the
public, the same public she is charged with
defending.
Since her appointment last week, support
against her has grown immensely, multiplying
hundreds of times from the first days. The
discontent was demonstrated in a peaceful
march last Sunday.
Taitelbaum is expected to assume her post on
January 4, 2010.
However, with the growing discontent,
including the promise from a number of
opposed not to allow to enter the Defensoría
building on January 4, it may force the
government to take note. |
